Happy Earth Day! Today, Timberline’s Culture Club celebrated the occasion by planting trees at the Town of Canton’s Pequitside Farm.
Pequitside Farm is 33 acres of open space located on Pleasant Street, owned and managed by the Canton Conservation Commission. The property is open to the public and contains walking trails, the Canton Conservation Community Gardens, a playground, and picnic areas.
In collaboration with the Conservation Commission and the Facilities and Grounds Division, Timberline sought a way to give back to the community in a meaningful way. All three groups worked to choose a native species, which was also drought resistant and preferable according to the Town’s Master Plan. The Town ultimately decided upon Red Oak trees, to be planted around the children’s playground area in Pequitside Farm.
Timberline’s Culture Club called upon volunteers to help plant the trees. The volunteers arrived on the morning of Earth Day, along with members from Conservation and Facilities, to dig the appropriate holes for each tree. The occasion provided not only a team bonding experience, but allowed Timberline to give back to the community, and ultimately the environment.
