Northern New England Emergency Response Deployment
When severe ice storms impacted Maine and the New Hampshire seacoast in December 2020, TCI mobilized emergency response crews to help restore critical communications infrastructure and maintain network continuity throughout the affected region.
As part of the emergency response effort, TCI deployed nearly 200 emergency generators to telecommunications sites across Maine and New Hampshire to provide temporary power and support continued network operations during widespread utility outages. Specialized equipment, including snow cats and access sleds, was utilized to reach remote and difficult-to-access sites where winter conditions limited conventional vehicle access.
As conditions improved, TCI crews worked to restore safe access to impacted facilities by clearing debris, opening blocked access roads, and securing damaged compounds. The team also repaired and rebuilt fencing at affected sites to restore site security and protect critical infrastructure.
In coordination with utility providers and telecommunications stakeholders, TCI’s electrical teams supported power restoration efforts and helped return communications facilities to normal operations. Through rapid mobilization and effective field execution, TCI provided critical emergency response services that minimized downtime and supported infrastructure recovery across the region.
