COLT (Cell on Light Truck) Deployment Supporting the 128th Boston Marathon
As one of the world’s most recognized road races, the Boston Marathon draws hundreds of thousands of spectators, participants, volunteers, media personnel, and public safety officials, creating a significant demand for reliable wireless connectivity throughout the event.
To support these increased communications requirements, TCI deployed Cell on Light Trucks (COLTs) near the marathon finish area in Copley Square, providing temporary wireless infrastructure designed to enhance network coverage and increase cellular capacity in one of the event’s busiest locations. Strategically positioned mobile assets helped carriers manage elevated network traffic while maintaining dependable service throughout peak attendance periods.
The deployment supported critical communications for public safety personnel, emergency responders, event operations teams, and attendees by supplementing existing network infrastructure where demand was expected to be highest. Through careful planning, logistics coordination, and rapid deployment capabilities, TCI helped ensure reliable wireless performance during one of Boston’s signature annual events.
