Portsmouth, RITELECOMMUNICATIONS TOWER REPLACEMENT TO IMPROVE RI DOT COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITIES
As part of efforts to improve infrastructure and communication capabilities, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation brought TCI on to replace and upgrade an existing telecommunications tower in Portsmouth, RI. This project aimed to strengthen the state’s communication network and support critical operations across the region.
The project involved the removal of the existing 150-foot monopole tower and the installation of a new 165-foot monopole tower. To accommodate this upgrade, a new 9-foot caisson foundation was constructed to provide a stable base. An 800-amp, 120/240-volt electrical service was installed to meet increased power demands, along with an advanced equipotential ground system to enhance safety. Additionally, the site was developed into a 30-foot by 75-foot compound, complete with a weed mat, stone base, and safety fencing to ensure long-term durability and maintenance.
