Job Summary

 The Tower Technician is responsible for the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of antenna systems, communication towers and support structures. The Tower Technician works under the immediate supervision of the Foreman.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Installs towers using construction and rigging equipment.

  • Performs general repair and maintenance on communications towers, requiring significant travel and the ability to climb to heights of 300 feet or more, multiple times a day as required per project.

  • Pick-up/delivery of supplies, tools, equipment, components, etc., via company vehicle.

  • Proficient in the use of power and hand tools required for the various tasks assigned.

  • Operation of heavy machinery including man lifts, and boom lifts.

  • Ability to safely and proficiently utilize rigging equipment including cables, lines, knots, capstan, etc.

  • Knowledgeable with the means and methods and demonstrate skill in weatherproofing, connectors, ground kit use, and an overall attention to detail and quality.

  • Knowledge of towers, various types, and safety issues associated with them.

  • Adhere to all company and industry (i.e. OSHA) standards and regulations.

  • Follow the direction of the foreman on site or directions left by foreman or supervisor who may not be on site.

  • Hand tools needed to perform the job please review the list. (Company assistance/Payroll deduction available.)

  • Be available to go on road trips on projects which may be for 1 night, a week or longer.

  • Other duties as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • Must understand plans and specifications and be knowledgeable about construction methods, materials, and regulations.

  • DOT Medical card required.

  • Must be able to work away from the home base for extended periods of time.

  • Must be familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Must have manual adroitness and excellent hand-eye coordination.

  • Good physical condition and stamina required.

  • Must have the ability to work independently under limited supervision.

  • Must efficiently prioritize and perform job requirements and activities based on open communication with the Foreman and others.

  • High School graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience required.

  • 1-3 years of experience in the construction of wireless sites, rooftop, and tower climbing preferred.

  • Basic mathematical skills, ability to apply common sense reasoning, good verbal and written communication skills.

  • OSHA 30 hr. preferred, 10 hr. required. (Company provided training)

  • Hoisting license preferred.

  • Pre-Employment drug testing.

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

  • DOT medical Certificate is required,
