Boston Wireless Infrastructure Decommissioning
TCI is supporting an ongoing small cell decommissioning program throughout the City of Boston, focused on the removal of legacy wireless infrastructure and the restoration of public rights-of-way. The project includes the decommissioning and removal of small cell nodes, utility poles, and associated foundations, along with the restoration of sidewalks and surrounding public spaces to meet municipal standards.
A key component of the project involves coordinating the disconnection and reconnection of more than 60 small cell locations to facilitate the transfer of electrical service from the wireless network infrastructure to City of Boston streetlighting systems. This work requires close collaboration with utility providers and municipal stakeholders while minimizing impacts to residents, businesses, and pedestrian traffic throughout the city.
To support ongoing infrastructure improvements, TCI is also managing excavation activities, foundation installations, and streetlight infrastructure upgrades in accordance with City of Boston requirements. The project demands detailed coordination with Boston Lighting, permitting agencies, and Eversource to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local regulations.
Through careful planning and execution, TCI continues to deliver comprehensive small cell decommissioning and infrastructure restoration services while helping facilitate the transition of public and utility assets within a complex urban environment.
