ELECTRICAL APPRENTICE

Job Summary:

 

The Apprentice Electrician is responsible for assisting the Electrical Foreman in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repairs of Telecommunications cell site installations, electrical systems, facilities and related electronic controls and devices of varying design or complexity.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Show up on time ready to work and learn.

  • Have a mode of transportation to get to the TCI warehouse, assigned job site location, or rendezvous point decided by Electrical foreman.

  • Take directions from the supervisor and assist, participate in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repairs of telecommunications cell site by interpreting blueprints, manufacturers’ specifications, written and verbal instructions.

  • Assist in the establishment of preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and facilities.

  • Assist in preparing reports and analyses indicating work progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical, Telco on towers, various types, and safety issues associated with them.

  • Adhere to all company and industry (i.e. OSHA, Mass electrical Code) standards and regulations.

  • Use of a computer to transmit images or information along with the required documentation for daily and weekly submittal.

  • Perform and or self-perform other duties as needed.

  • Assist in the installation of electrical conduits, race ways, conductors and supports.

  • Assist in the installation of Telco conduits, race ways, conductors and supports.

  • Follow the safety policy as described in the safety manual.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • The ability to learn and understand plans and specifications and be knowledgeable about construction methods, materials, and regulations.

  • The ability to become familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • The ability to demonstrate manual adroitness (having or showing skill, cleverness, or resourcefulness in handling situations) and excellent hand-eye coordination.

  • Must be enrolled in apprentice code and theory classes needed to complete apprenticeship.

  • The ability to be physically capable of performing those duties of the job that may require but are not limited to; standing, lifting, bending, stooping, crawling, sitting, and climbing.

  • The ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions.

  • The ability to efficiently prioritize and perform job requirements and activities based on open communication with the Foreman and others.

  • High School graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience is required.

  • Two years of experience as an Apprentice Electrician.

  • OSHA 10 hr.

  • Be able to go on road trips that could be 1 night to several nights depending on job location and size of project for 1 or several weeks.

  • Have the basic electrician tools needed to perform your job.
