CIVIL LABORER

The Civil Laborer is required to perform the same tasks on site as other Technicians. The Foreman works under the immediate supervision of the Project Manager/Project Supervisor.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Installs tower foundations, underground utilities, equipment pads, fencing using construction and rigging equipment

  • Performs excavation and backfill for underground utilities, roadways, equipment pads, foundations, and other civil work as required for specific project requirements.

  • Pick-up/delivery of supplies, tools, equipment, components, etc., via company vehicle

  • Proficient in the use of power and hand tools required for the various tasks assigned

  • Operation of heavy machinery including excavators, compactors, man lifts, and boom lifts

  • Knowledgeable with the means and methods and demonstrate skill in sitework excavation, backfill, underground utilities, and simple concrete work.

  • Understands project deliverables, cost estimates, and major milestones

  • Develops detailed plan to complete project, including schedule of activities and projection of manpower needs, communicate and coordinate with Project Manager.

  • Schedule, inventory, and oversee delivery and use of both customer supplied and TCI materials, tools and equipment

  • Supervise and monitor worker productivity, including reporting hours for all personnel on jobsite. Submit daily reports recording all subcontractor and TCI activity and job site conditions to Project Manager

  • Supervise and develop personnel, resolve employee issues, provide technical training for tower hands, and conduct “toolbox talks”

  • Adhere to all company and industry (i.e. OSHA) health and safety standards and regulations

 

Qualifications

  • Must understand plans and specifications and be knowledgeable about construction methods, materials, and regulations.

  • Must be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be decisive and work well under pressure, particularly when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.

  • Have the ability to coordinate several major activities at once is essential, as is an understanding of engineering, architectural and other construction drawings.

  • Must be familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Must have manual adroitness and excellent hand-eye coordination.

  • Good physical condition and stamina required.

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions in English.

  • Must have the ability to work independently under limited supervision.

  • Must efficiently prioritize and perform job requirements and activities based on open communication with the Project Manager and others.

  • Able to establish good working relationships with many different people, including clients, managers, subcontractors and crew.

  • High School graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience required.

  • 3-5 years of experience in general construction, electrical, technical, or mechanical field preferred.

  • Basic mathematical skills, ability to apply common sense reasoning, good verbal and written communication skills.

  • OSHA 30-hour, CPR and first aid training preferred.

  • Hoisting license, Hydraulic operator’s license required
